Clara Barton Hospital Foundation Contributes $254,000 to Capital Campaign

 September 19, 2018

For the 25th consecutive year, the Hoisington community rallied together in support of the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation. The Foundation held its Annual Benefit – Golf Tournament, Dinner and Auction, “Mission Possible” earlier this summer. Many supporters from near and far gathered together as a way to show their support for their local Hospital and Foundation. This year marked the fifth and final year that benefit proceeds would be put towards the “Complete the Dream… Continue the Vison” Capital Campaign. This year’s benefit embraced the “Mission Possible” theme and succeeded in raising just over $51,000 in proceeds. An additional $4,600 was raised in a special live auction: The Gift from the Heart.

In 2014 when the Capital Campaign was first launched, the Foundation Board of Trustees began seeking ways to assist with project funding. It was decided that the Annual Benefit proceeds for the following five years would go toward assisting with the $1.4 million capital campaign project.

“The Foundation is pleased to report that with the addition of this year’s proceeds, we have been able to contribute a total of $254,000 over the past 5 years to the capital campaign,” said Kathy Axman, Foundation Trustee. “The past few years have been quite a journey for Clara Barton Hospital, with so many wonderful changes being made with the expansion of our Physical Therapy Department. This capital campaign would not have been possible without the determination and obligation of our community members.”

The “Complete the Dream… Continue the Vision” capital campaign began in support of the Therapy Services and Laundry Facility expansion project. Due to the growth of the Therapy Services department and increased laundry out-sourcing costs, the Clara Barton Hospital Board of Directors felt the expansion project was necessary to accommodate the changing healthcare needs of the community.

A grand opening of the facility was celebrated in November of 2014. The expansion project enhanced the Therapy Services department by adding over 2,200 sq. ft. for a therapy gym, treatment rooms, waiting area, office space, and the addition of an occupational therapy kitchen and bathroom. The expansion also included a facility that allows all laundry to be done in-house rather than outsourcing the laundry services to another facility.

“The added space created multiple private treatment areas, which has allowed us to see our patients as quickly as possible and provide them with the best individualized care. We gained the ability to expand our staff and meet with patients for physical, occupational, and speech therapy all in one location,” said Alesia Schneweis, DPT. “We are so thankful for the expansion and the way it has allowed us to improve our services for our community.”

The Foundation hopes to wrap up its fundraising efforts for the $1.4 million “Complete the Dream… Continue the Vision” capital campaign in 2019.

“As the “Complete the Dream… Continue the Vision” campaign comes to a close, your support is still needed,” said Michelle Moshier, Clara Barton Hospital Foundation Director. “I would like to thank the Foundation Board of Trustees for all of their hard work and dedication towards the fundraising campaign as well as all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and employees that make dreams like this possible. It is our mission to provide our community with the utmost quality of healthcare, and this is made possible through the generosity of others.”
