Annual Benefit a Huge Success for Clara Barton Hospital Foundation
September 3, 2019
For nearly three decades, the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation has carried on the tradition of hosting an Annual Benefit – Golf Tournament, Dinner and Auction in support of Clara Barton Hospital. In June, a variety of heroes within the Hoisington community rallied together in support of the Foundation for the 26th consecutive year fitting the theme “Hometown Heroes” to a tee raising $53,622.
On Friday, June 14th the event kicked off at 8 a.m. with the golf tournament at Lake Barton Golf Course. Twenty-nine teams participated in this year’s tournament (only one team shy of filling all tee times), golfing in three flights for the four-man scramble. The golfers also participated in many competitions throughout the day, including a hole-in-one contest, sponsored by Manweiler Chevrolet Co., as well as eight hole contests and a par three five-card poker hand contest, sponsored by Cardinal Pharmacy.
The benefit event continued in the evening at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hoisington with a dinner, sponsored by Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless, and both a live and silent auction. Over 225 people gathered for a night full of food, drinks and fun.
Unique to this year’s theme, members of the community had the opportunity to honor someone that they consider a “hometown hero” with a donation. There were a total of 10 hometown heroes honored throughout the event, raising $1,000.
“It was such a pleasure celebrating with the community for the 26th time as we joined forces to show support for the hospital we all appreciate and value dearly,” said Michelle Moshier, Foundation Director. “We are so thankful for all who supported and joined the Foundation in such a heroic way to provide much-needed funding to bring 3D Mammography to Clara Barton Hospital.”
Through the generosity and support of our hometown heroes, the event raised $53,622 in support of bringing life-saving 3D Mammography services to Clara Barton Hospital, up more than $2,500 from the year prior. The Foundation has been working on the funding for 3D Mammography since the fall of 2018 to provide advanced screening technology. Thanks to the event’s success, coupled with a generous membership drive, an estate gift, and another successful event, they were able to expend more than $334,000 to the hospital in support. In addition to the proceeds raised for 3D Mammography, another $6,200 was raised through a special ‘Gift from the Heart’ appeal for a project yet to be determined.
“Whether it's an event sponsor, participation or individuals in the community donating, it's been amazing to see how many people are so passionate about this project," said Moshier. "The amount of participation and financial support we’ve received is truly touching and we are so very thankful.”

Supporters of this project have not only given the hospital an exceptional tool to assist in early breast cancer detection, they’ve given hope to patients. The 26th Annual Benefit event played a crucial role in funding this advanced screening technology, leaving a lasting impact far beyond the walls of the hospital. This equipment is life-changing, improving the quality of life for those screened and diagnosed early.
